Subramnyam swamy temple

Nagalmadaka (Karnataka)

Nagalmadaka is a small village in the state of Karnataka in India. This is considered to be one of the holiest places for the devotees of Lord Subramanya (Younger son of Lord Shiva). There are three main temples of Lord Subramanya and the idol in each temple is known with a name in each temple. Lord Aadi (first) Subramanya is located in Kukke Subramanya temple, Lord Madhya (middle) Subramanya is located in Ghati Subramanya temple and Lord Anthya (last) Subramanya is located in Nagulamadaka Subramanya Swaami Temple. Devotees worship Lord who is in the form of Seven headed snake. This place is also known as Nagulamadake.

Nagalmadaka is almost 100KM from Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh and almost 175 KM from Bangalore.

How to reach Nagalmadaka

If you start from Bangalore/Hyderabad first reach Penukonda via NH44. Once you reach penukonda you have 2 different routes as below.

I would suggest the roddamkottala route as there is no crowd on that route. I route is ver pleasant and you will see greenery and farming area on the way.

History about the temple

The subramnya swamy temple was built a priest long ago. There is a famous story behind the temple. The pujari of Nagalmadaka was a great devotee of Lord Subramnya, once he was supposed to attend on festival at Kukke (Karnataka). The priest started from his home by walk to attend the festival there but getting late and the priest of Kukke waited for him to join to start the pooja. The priest did not stop anywhere for food or anything to save time to reach kukke. The pooja started once the priest reached kukke.
Lord Subramnya came in his dream and told that you can build a temple there is Nagalmadaka and you can worship me there, it will give you the same goodwill what you get in my temple in Kukke.
The priest happily came and built the temple there in Nagalmadaka.

Pooja timings

The pooja starts around 9:30-10AM and continues for one hour. You can pay Rs50 for pooja.
Please complete 9 rounds there and Lord Subramnya will bless you.
