800 years shiva temple in anantapur

How to reach Jerutla Ramapuram ?

Jerutla Ramapuram is almost 55-60km from Anantapur market and is close to Uravkonda or Vajrakaroor. To reach this village drive almost 30-35km on Anantapur-Bellary highway till uravkonda and then you will get a narrow road on the right. The narrow road will continue till the uravkonda village and then you will get a single road that leads to Jerutla Ramapuram. Last 7-8 km will be beautiful as this covers farming areas and wind mills. Drive at lower speed as it's curve road and you might see vehicle or bullock carts coming from other side.

Season to visit

You can visit the temple during winter season.
Summar and rainy season is not advisable due to excessive heat or muddy roads. So better visit between October to March.

Temple location description

The temple construction looks old with statue of lord Shiva, Ganesha, Devi Parvati above the main entrance and kal bhairava statue, Siva ling and Devi Durga statue in separate temples in the premises. The temple premise is beside Penna river which is a narrow river (you can take baoth on the river stream) the river water flows from a small pond inside temple premise in front of kal bhairav temple.
Be careful as there are lots of monkeys in temple premises, also you will notice that there are small rooms beside temple and the temple priest also lives in temple premise. There is a very small hill beside the river near the temple.
